Massaro Glunder is the son of Rodney Glunder, a name who may be familiar to veteran MMA fans from back in the Vale Tudo days (Pride FC, Rings).

His father wanted him to be a soccer played but by the age of ten it was clear he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. So his father sent him to Mike’s Gym to train under Mike Passenier.

Massaro says that his father’s colorful career meant he sometimes wasn’t around for extended periods and so Mike became like a father figure to him.

He says that under Mike’s influence he stayed on the straight and narrow and that without Mike

in his life, he questions if he would even be still alive by now.

Massaro has a very high level of talent, as evidenced by wins over the likes of Masaaki Noiri of Japan, one of the world’s top featherweights.

But he also makes a habit of taking fights on any kind of notice at all - in May of 2017 he fought Andy Souwer on just three hours’ notice under MMA rules and though he lost, he took him the distance.

He draws heritage from the Moluccan Islands, a group of islands near Indonesia which are known as ‘The Spice Islands’ because it was here that spices such as nutmeg were first discovered.
