Thailand (PAT) Super Featherweight Champion (130lbs)

Like all Thai fighters, Petchpanomrung uses the name of his team as his surname for his fight career. Thus 'Kiatmookao' is actually the name of the gym he trains at. Sometimes represented as 'Kiatmoo9', the name derives from the gym being on the ninth side-street (“moo” in Thai) of the village of Kiat. “Kao” is the Thai word for “9”.

Kiatmookao enjoys a reputation for incredibly hard training, even among the world of Muay Thai in Thailand, which is in itself notorious for hard training.

The gym makes a point of using local youths from the village as its stock, rather than buying in successful youngsters as many other Thai teams do. It has been a conveyor belt of champions over the last decade and a regular contender for the prestigious 'Gym of the Year' award in Thailand – it won the award in 2002 and is always shortlisted for it.

Petchpanomrung is a former WMC champion. He is currently ranked at #7 in the Lumpini Stadium rankings at 140lbs and at #6 in the Rajadamnern Stadium rankings at 135lbs. He is joining the GLORY featherweight division, where he will fight at 145lbs.

In 2015 he won the 2015 Toyota Marathon Tournament, a prestigious eight-man tournament. He stopped his quarter-final opponent then beat two more by decision to win the thing outright.

Interesting fact: Petchpanomrung is also a soldier in the Royal Thai Army.
