Youssef Assouik is a Danish national of Moroccan heritage and came to GLORY's attention via scouts on the Scandinavian kickboxing circuit.
His first sport was soccer and he was training towards being a professional before kickboxing took over and sent him in a different direction.
“I actually wanted to be a professional soccer player. But my talent was clearly in kickboxing. The indescribable feeling I had after my first fight made me want to fight more and has kept me in the game!” he says.
“I’ve been fighting ever since. I always wanted to be a professional sportsman, and here I am!”
In his spare time, Assouik devotes his time towards working with troubled and at-risk youths in Copenhagen, Denmark.
“I'm engaged in a social project in my neighbourhood where I train troubled kids. I hope to give some of them the same experience that I had. Besides that, I study and spend the rest of my time with my lovely wife,” he says.
